Several people have been temporarily displaced after a fire in a duplex on Houlahan Street in Dieppe.
It started just after 8 am Tuesday.
Dieppe Fire Chief Marc Cormier told our newsroom in an email that nearby residents called 911 after flames were spotted.
He added that it’s believed the fire started on the rear patio and then spread to both sides of the duplex.
Residents managed to escape safely, and no one was reportedly hurt.
Cormier says the duplex was significantly damaged.
The specific cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Sixteen firefighters, three chief officers, and a fire investigator, along with Codiac RCMP, Ambulance New Brunswick, NB Power, and employees of the City of Dieppe Water Department, assisted on scene.
Fire crews remained on scene for approximately two hours to extinguish the fire, conduct overhaul operations, and begin the investigation.
