RCMP are investigating after an inmate was assaulted at Atlantic Institution.
A statement from Correctional Service Canada said the incident happened June 11th at the federal prison in Renous.
The inmate was taken to hospital for treatment and has since returned to the prison.
CSC said the attacker has been identified and appropriate actions have been taken.
Members of the Blackville RCMP and prison staff are investigating.
No staff members or other inmates were injured during the incident.
CSC said it will review the incident and take measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
