Saint-Louis-de-Kent, NB-It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elie Léger, aged 89, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Villa Maria in Saint-Louis-de-Kent.

Born in Richibouctou-Village, NB, on February 7, 1937, he was the beloved husband of Marie (Maillet) Léger and the son of the late Joseph Léger and the late Alvina Léger (née Allain).

Elie will be sadly missed by his wife, Marie; his daughter, Sylvie Smith (Steven) of Richibouctou-Village and his son, Maurice Léger (Nicole Marshall) of Saint-Charles; his brother-in-law, Raymond LeBlanc; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Elie was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Besides his parents, Elie was predeceased by his two sisters, Eva and Christine, in infancy, and by his sister Elmire; as well as his five brothers: Alban, Yvon, Édouard, Lionel, and Alfred.

The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Villa Maria for the excellent care and compassion shown to Elie.

Visitations will be held at the Richibouctou-Village Church, 3794 Route 505, Richibouctou-Village, NB, on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the church.

Donations in memory of Elie may be made to the Richibouctou-Village Parish or to the Villa Maria Activity Fund.
