Douglas Earl Miller

1936 – 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Earl Miller on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Moncton Hospital.

Born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Doug was the son of the late Reginald and Sarah (MacLean) Miller. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doug retired from a 39-year career with the Royal Bank and enjoyed 34 years of retirement filled with travel, golf, woodworking, gardening, and cherished summers at the family cottage at Amherst Shore. He also greatly valued time spent with friends on hunting and fishing trips, as well as many enjoyable games of bridge.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Jackie (Smith); his children, Jane Jonah (Steve), Jennifer Boak (Rob), Rob (Lee-Ann), and Paul (Shelley); 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his sister, Beverley Dunn.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Reginald.

Doug was humble, simple in needs and expectations but held up the most important qualities in life – decency, respect, responsibility, honesty, and most importantly, love and care of family. He will be remembered for his quick wit and lifelong dedication to cheering on his teams, the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs, coaching them enthusiastically from the comfort of his couch.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff of the Moncton Hospital, especially Acute Care and 6600.

In accordance with Doug’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. The family will gather at a later date to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre & Fergusons Crematorium, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview, NB (506) 857-9544.
