Charity of the week: Amal Newcomers Services

There are many charities in Moncton and the surrounding area. You’ve probably heard some of their names, but may not know exactly what they do. Each week, we’ll highlight a different organization, sharing who they are and the work they do. We’ll also let you know about any upcoming events where you can learn more or get involved.

This week’s Charity of the Week is Amal Newcomers Services

Who We Are:

Amal Newcomers Services is a community-based organization supporting newcomers, refugees, and vulnerable populations as they settle and integrate into life in Greater Moncton and surrounding areas.

What We Do:

We provide settlement and integration support, youth and children’s programming, women’s support groups, English and French language classes, community outreach, translation and interpretation services, and essential support initiatives such as care kits for individuals and families in need.

We also operate the AMAL Youth & Community Center, which hosts programs, workshops, and community activities, including Game Nights and Movie Nights for youth and families in a safe and inclusive environment.

Good Morning Greater Moncton Initiative:

A monthly community breakfast held every second Saturday of the month that brings together newcomers and community members. Our next breakfast will take place on May 9th.

Where We Work:

Our services are delivered year-round across Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview, both at our community center and through outreach programs.

Why We Do It:

To support inclusion, empowerment, and successful integration by ensuring newcomers and vulnerable individuals have access to the resources and community connections they need.

Ongoing & Upcoming Initiatives:

  • English & French language classes
  • Settlement and integration services
  • Summer & Fall Hiking Program
  • Expanded Care Kit distribution
