Dale Gordon Somers

February 17, 1955  –  April 19, 2026

t is with great sadness we announce the Homegoing of Dale Gordon Somers on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at The Moncton Hospital, surrounded by family & friends. Born in Chatham, NB he was the son of the late Edward and Jean (Blakely) Somers.

Dale had an unshakeable Faith and determination even during his hardest battles. He remained positive and joyous during his last 2 years after his spinal injury and always said that he believed God would use him and his story for the Glory of God.

Dale was an accountant by trade, but dabbled in many different avenues. He worked in a variety of positions both in private businesses & faith based settings. He finished his career as the Director of Finance & Operations at Hillside Baptist Church.

Dale will be missed by his wife Wendy (Steeves) Somers; his daughter Lauren Wilson (Thomas); grandchildren Alice, Taylor and Charlotte whom were the light of his life; sisters Betty Somers and Susan Walsh (Bob); his brothers Charlie (Sue) and John; nieces and nephews, Tammy (Marc) Clement, Jeff (Susan) Steeves, Karla (Tony) Locke, George Steeves, Janique Steeves, Jeff (Andrea) Somers and Jillian Somers.

He was also predeceased by his in-laws, Harold & Frances Steeves, brother-in-law Harold Steeves Jr., brother-in-law & sister-in-law Harry & Beth Steeves.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation in Fredericton, NB, for going above & beyond with love and support for our family during Dale’s recovery in 2024. Also thank you to Extramural Hospital, Advanced Health & Physio Clinic & the Moncton Hospital Neuro Intensive Care. A huge thank you to Dr. Clarice Redonda, our family doctor, who went above & beyond in her support of the entire family during Dale’s recovery.

Visitation for Dale will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd Moncton, NB (506-858-1995) on Wednesday, April 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A service to celebrate and honour Dale’s life will take place at Hillside Church on Thursday, April 30th at 1:00 pm. Dale’s “uniform” was always dress pants & a gray t-shirt. The family is asking all the men to wear a gray t-shirt in Dale’s honor to his celebration of Life. A reception will follow in the Family Centre at the church. Interment will be at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.

Donations in memory of Dale can be made to Hillside Church Building Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
