Missing man located safely in wooded area

An 83-year-old northern New Brunswick man is home safe thanks to the help of RCMP police dog services.

The Doaktown detachment received reports last Thursday afternoon that the missing man was spotted walking in the woods near powerlines in New Bandon, near Caraquet.

He reportedly suffered from medical conditions that made him confused and disoriented.

Officers from the Doaktown, Sunny Corner, and Blackville detachments, along with RCMP Police Dog Services, Air Services, and a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (drone) pilot, were called in to begin searching.

The man was located around two hours later in a wooded area by PSD Klue and her handler, Sgt. Mike L’italien.

Paramedics treated him for minor injuries, and he was returned home safely.
