Saint Andrews loses extraordinary community leader

Sadness in the town of Saint Andrews and the surrounding communities after the death of an Acting Mayor.

Condolences from dignitaries and friends have been posted to social media in honour of Acting Mayor Kate Akagi.

She passed away over the weekend.

Mayor of Fundy Shores Denny Cogswell says he received the news yesterday, and adds she will be greatly missed by her community and the many organizations she volunteered with.

Mayor of Eastern Charlotte John Craig also stated on social media that Saint Andrews has lost a remarkable community leader.

Akagi became the Town’s Acting Mayor in June last year after Brad Henderson stepped down two months earlier.

The Town of Saint Andrews has postponed meetings for this week due to the passing of Akagi.
