Riverview introduces new Town Crier

Here ye! Here ye! Riverview has a new Town Crier.

“We put a committee together, we took applications from the community. A very rigorous audition process, very Canadian Idol-esque. We are very pleased to be able to welcome the next Town Crier for Riverview, Summer Gallant!” Mayor Andrew Leblanc stated in an introduction to the Riverview Town Council on Monday night.

Gallant replaces Jerry Forsythe, who served in the role for several years, but unfortunately passed away in 2025.

The Town began their search to fill the volunteer role back in February.

Leblanc stated they’ve never had an official appointment ceremony for the Town Crier before, but last night they handed over the bell.

“I accept the role of Town Crier with a full heart, a strong voice, ready to serve our wonderful community with enthusiasm, integrity and a touch of theatrical flair. Wherever I go, I promise to bring our community together through smiles and joy. Thank you for entrusting me with this role,” Gallant said in the first address as a Town Crier.

Leblanc says Gallant will be joining them for numerous events, including the Oath of Office ceremony on June 1.
