Lynne L. Brine

1952~2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lynne Brine, who left us after a brief battle with leukemia,

surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 19, 1952, to the late

Leona (Chapman) and Talmage Gillies, Lynne was a woman of sharp intelligence, quick wit, and a signature

twinkle in her eye that hinted at her spirited nature.

For 52 years, Lynne and her husband, Bill Brine, shared a marriage that was the foundation of their lives.

They weren’t just partners; they were best friends who built a life filled with laughter, from their legendary, crowded Christmas Eve open houses to their quiet later years in their beautiful forested home in Shediac Cape.

Lynne’s heart belonged to the outdoors. She was perhaps happiest in a barn, surrounded by the horses she loved and trained throughout her life. She also found peace by the water, having spent her childhood at the family cottage in Cape Brulé—a place she and Bill later called home for 16 years.

In her final years, she could often be found on her veranda, book in hand, watching the hummingbirds and forest critters she so enjoyed.

A devoted mother and “sage” advisor, Lynne was always there to offer support (even if her family didn’t always follow her wise counsel).

She will be deeply missed by her children, Jesse Brine and Meghan Brine (Guy Leger), and her step-daughter, Ronda Brine (Patrice Ducharme). Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren, Jaime Lynne, Joey, and Nikola, who she adored.

Lynne was one of four sisters and remained incredibly close to them throughout her life. While she was predeceased by her sisters Gail and Heather, her sister Anne Young (David) will dearly miss their nearly weekly happy hours and dinners. She also leaves behind a circle of cherished, lifelong friends—Barb, Ruth, and Liz—whose loyalty she valued above all else.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the paramedics, emergency room staff, and Oncology team for their care. Special thanks to Dr. Al-Ani, Brenda Chandler, and Dr. Megan Richard.

We are especially grateful to the staff and volunteers at Albert House (Hospice) for providing such an astounding atmosphere of calmness and kindness during Lynne’s final days.

In keeping with Lynne’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. For those who wish to honour her memory, donations to The Albert House would be greatly appreciated.

The family invites you to sign a book of condolences at: www.funerairepassagefuneral.ca.
