1957 – 2026
We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Laurence “Larry” McCaw, which occurred on March 15, 2026, at The Moncton Hospital.
If Larry had written this, he’d have told a creative and witty narrative, so not just any words will do here. A brilliant man who could impress with every Jeopardy answer, he also had a creative side that won him awards in radio, the career he was most proud of. If he were writing this, I suspect he’d start with the love story of a pretty Canadian girl called Marion and a handsome Irish pilot named John.
Born 68 years ago, the middle son, he would next recount tales of growing up with his brothers John and Mark, but perhaps these ought to remain a mystery. Larry had many hobbies, from drumming to motorcycle-riding to fishing, but his favorite place over the years was at Riverglade motocross track. The Voice of Atlantic Motocross for years, at the tracks he was in his element, proudly announcing each rider, their sponsors, and hundreds of other random facts he could rattle off without glancing at his notes. He loved his motocross family and would proudly talk of all the riders, their families, and their adventures.
Lastly, Larry would certainly brag about his daughter Elizabeth, which he was known to do. He loved her and her two boys Cole and Matthew, as well as his nieces Sherri, Erin, and Laurie. He and Mark depended on each other, and Mark was thankfully by his side for years as his health worsened. Thank-you to Mark for all of the support over the years, to John for his visits and all the time spent, and to the staff at The Moncton Hospital for their care and compassion.
Larry’s family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, March 23rd from 6 – 8pm at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd, Riverview (506-869-2007). For anyone wishing to make a donation in his name, suggestions would be to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
