Lynda Mae Petrie

1942 – 2026

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Lynda Mae Petrie of Riverview, NB on February 16, 2026, at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Glen and Beulah (née Crossman) McCaughan.

Lynda was a devoted volunteer who generously gave her time to many charities and organizations throughout the years. She was a passionate and accomplished curler, proudly competing at the mixed curling nationals and coaching a women’s junior curling team to the national level. She was a former member of the Beaver Curling Club, where she built lifelong friendships and countless memories on the ice.

Beyond curling, Lynda enjoyed golfing and playing bridge with her closest friends and family. She cherished time spent with loved ones and will be remembered for her warmth, dedication, and community spirit. Many happy summers and early autumns were spent at her cottage or on Parlee Beach.

Lynda will be deeply missed by her loving son Matthew Petrie, her daughter-in-law Trish Petrie-Maillet (James), her cherished grandsons Alex and Brady Petrie, her chosen granddaughter Ashley Bourgeois, her sister Lois Lafferty-McCaughan , her brother David (Jacquie) McCaughan, as well as many extended family members, including nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Arnold and son Andrew Petrie and her sister Shirley.

The family will be celebrating and paying a tribute to Lynda on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 1-3pm at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview. Donations made in memory of Lynda to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
