Marie Melanson

1930 ~ 2026

Saint-Antoine, NB – It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Marie Melanson, surrounded by her family which occurred on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Stella-Maris Hospital in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, NB.

Born on January 8, 1930, she was the beloved wife of the late Hector Melanson (2008) and the daughter of the late Hector Cormier and the late Madeleine Cormier (née LeBlanc).

Marie leaves to mourn her eight children: her daughter, Carmella (Léo-Paul LeBlanc) of Grand-Barachois, and her seven sons: Eddy (Francine Landry), Eugère (Aline), Alvin (Anne), Normand (Laura), and Paul (June), all of Cocagne; Jean-Guy (Janice) of Bouctouche and Clarence (Simonne) of Saint-Antoine. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, as well as one sister, Noëlla LeBlanc of Gardner, Massachusetts, and several nieces and nephews.

For Marie, her greatest joy was her eight children, whom she adored deeply. She also had a gift for singing and loved sharing that talent with those around her. One of her great qualities was to see positive in everything.

Besides her husband Hector, she was predeceased by her sister Marguerite, and her four brothers: Richard, Noël, Néri, and Lénus.
