Man injured in Vail Street shooting incident

Codiac RCMP are continuing to investigate a shooting incident in Moncton.

Cpl. Dave Allard says it happened at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on Vail Street.

A 45-year-old man was shot and suffered what are believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Allard confirmed this was not a random incident and there is no threat to the public.

Investigators said a red SUV, possibly a Toyota RAV4, was seen pulling up to the residence minutes before the shooting.

A passenger wearing a face covering exited the vehicle and returned a short time later. The vehicle fled before officers arrived.

Allard adds it is still early in the investigation, and they are speaking to witnesses to obtain further information and a description of a suspect.
