Catalytic Converter Stolen From Food Depot Truck

Another Greater Moncton organization has fallen victim to catalytic converter theft.

Food Depot Alimentaire announced on social media that one of their trucks used to deliver food to Anglophone East School Breakfast Programs had its catalytic converter cut out on March 3.

A non-profit, Food Depot serves food banks, community kitchens, school programs and other agencies across New Brunswick.

It’s not the first time thieves have targeted Food Depot vehicles to benefit themselves. The organization said fuel has been pulled from their vehicles five times since the start of February.

The costs associated with refuelling the trucks and repairing the vehicle is in the thousands, the post stated.

“This is very disappointing as we are a not-for-profit charitable organization and our money would be better spent on buying food and helping feed families in need,” it reads.

Food Depot asks anyone with information on these events to contact the RCMP.

Last week, Moncton Headstart said the catalytic converter had been stolen from one of their buses, which is used to transport kids every morning.
