Get ready for a very wet start to the weekend across southern and central New Brunswick.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for southern, central, and northeastern regions, including:
- Acadian Peninsula
- Bathurst and Chaleur Region
- Fredericton and Southern York County
- Fundy National Park
- Grand Lake and Queens County
- Grand Manan and Coastal Charlotte County
- Kent County
- Kouchibouguac National Park
- Miramichi and area
- Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick
- Oromocto and Sunbury County
- Saint John and County
- St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County
- Stanley – Doaktown – Blackville Area
- Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County
- Woodstock and Carleton County
Rain is forecast to begin Saturday morning over southern New Brunswick and spread to northeastern areas by the afternoon before changing to flurries Saturday night.
Forecasters say between 25 and 35 millimetres of rain could fall by the time all is said and done.
Meanwhile, a snowfall warning is in effect for northwestern regions of the province, including:
- Campbellton and Restigouche County
- Edmundston and Madawaska County
- Grand Falls and Victoria County
- Mount Carleton – Renous Highway
The national weather agency is forecasting between 15 and 25 centimetres of snow in those communities.
