Former New Brunswick premier Brian Gallant will enter a new sector.
On Thursday, Gallant announced he will be the CEO of Space Canada.
It is a new national industry association offering a united voice for Canada’s space sector
It also represents the country’s space innovators and industries to convey the value of space technology, research, and investment.
“By leveraging space innovation we can more effectively global challenges from climate change to inequalities all while creating the jobs of the future right here in Canada,” said Gallant.
Gallant mentioned the space economy is a rapidly expanding global sector that is forecast to reach up to $2 trillion in the coming decades.
“Supporting several traditional industries, like farmers, who can better and more sustainably monitor their crops from space.”
Gallant brought up that space can also help close the digital divide by providing high-speed connectivity to remote, rural, and indigenous communities.
He added it can strengthen Canada’s national security by more effectively monitoring the north and its borders.
