What Kids Need Moncton Looking For Outdoor Clothing Donations

The What Kids Need Moncton annual snowsuit campaign is underway, to ensure every child and youth has outdoor clothing to keep warm this winter.

Founder Amanda Pooley says they’ve already distributed to over 50 people and pick-up appointments are booked until mid-November.

This has prompted a need for even more donations, “As long as it still has some life in it, then we can find someone who can use it. We want it to be gently loved, but in good enough shape that it will still work for somebody else,” Pooley says.

What Kids Need Inc started around ten years ago, and Pooley says they have been providing snowsuits to children every year.

Pooley says, “We are finding this year that we have a lot of newcomers to Canada who don’t know what to expect from the winter, because they may come from a country that doesn’t have winter. We have even had people in who didn’t know what mittens were. We want to ensure they have what they need to keep them warm this winter. This year, we haven’t gotten in very many snowsuits for the babies under two. We are also looking for a lot of adult stuff, because our teenagers are often in adult sizes and we don’t have a lot of that left either.”

If you are someone who knits or crochets, Pooley says they’re always open to handmade items as well, “We also have a bunch of ladies in the communities who knit hats and mitts and scarves and they have definitely bee trying to keep up with the demand this year.”

Donations of winter gear can be dropped off at 177 West Lane on the front deck.

If you are someone in need, Pooley says just reach out to her on Facebook and she will schedule you an appointment.
