The City of Dieppe is the last of the tri-communities to announce they will also celebrate Truth and Reconciliation day on September 30th.
Non essential services will be closed, but recreational facilities will remain open.
“September 30 is an opportunity for our staff to honour residential school survivors, their families and their communities,” said Mayor Yvon Lapierre.
The City adds that the closing of non-essential services applies this year only.
A news release states, in future, they will look at other ways of highlighting the contribution and history of Indigenous peoples with staff and the public.
Moncton and Riverview have both also said they will be honouring the day as well as a holiday.
