Moncton MLA Committed To Dumont, Francophone Network

Moncton East MLA Daniel Allain believes that the possibility of merging New Brunswick’s two health authorities is misinformation.

The Francophone MLA took to Facebook on Saturday, reassuring the public that the government is committed to both health networks and the Dr. George L. Dumont University Hospital Centre.

Allain acknowledged that there are a number of issues within the province’s healthcare system but noted these issues occur around the globe and come as the result of inaction by previous governments.

“We support the experts at Vitalité and Horizon who manage on a daily basis. I am committed to working closely with the Minister of Health and the new CEO of Vitalité, Dr. Desrosiers, to restore UHC Dumont to its former glory and ensure quality services.”

The main challenges identified by Allain were the NCLEX exam, working conditions, recognition of professional titles for newcomers, and increasing the number of students in nursing programs.

A significant reduction in services and a detour of ambulances has generated speculation and concern around the measures needed to improve New Brunswick’s healthcare system.

Allain maintains that as an Acadian and Francophone MLA, improvement won’t come at the cost of their linguistic and fundamental rights.
