Vaccines Injecting Faith In Feds, Says Study

A recent survey conducted by the Angus Reid Institute indicates that the growing optimism of achieving a “one-dose-summer” could be aiding the popularity of the federal government.

With Canada’s vaccine rollout progressing, 50% of Canadians believe that the federal government has done a good job handling the pandemic, while 47% oppose that belief.

Although the difference is minimal, it’s an increase of six percentage points over the span of a month. Notably, the admiration for the federal government has increased with the conclusion of each pandemic wave.

However, approval for the overall government has not necessarily resulted in approval for the Prime Minister. Half of Canadians believe Justin Trudeau has done a poor job handling the pandemic, compared to 46% that think otherwise.

There’s much more love for the Prime Minister on the east coast, with 54% of Atlantic Canadians giving his overall handling of the pandemic a stamp of approval.

The survey was conducted between May 14-17 and received responses from 1,601 Canadians.
