Vaccination Clinics For Anglophone East Teachers Expected This Week

COVID-19 Vaccination clinics for high school teachers officially got underway today, starting with regions including Woodstock, Hartland and Edmundston.

This in advance of the return to full time in person learning on April 12th.

Anglophone East School District Superintendent Gregg Ingersoll expects to release more information for this region on Monday or Tuesday, “Originally, they had a schedule and it looked like we were going to be on a couple of different days, depending on where the schools are, but now it looks like they’re all going to be on one day.”

He says they’ve taken steps to ensure all of the staff and teachers can get their shot, “High schools will close for one day to allow that to happen, to allow staff to go and get their vaccines. There may even be some clinics held in our schools, so teachers from other schools and other staff members can get their vaccination there.”

Between March 22 and March 27, 4,500 staff from high schools provincewide will receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

The provincial government says, in the coming weeks, additional vaccination clinics will be available for staff in elementary and middle schools and for early childhood service providers and child care staff as part of the large employer section of the vaccine rollout plan.
