Fire Destroys Storage Warehouse On Parlee Beach Road

A provincial storage warehouse in Pointe-de-Chene has been destroyed by fire.

Shediac Fire Captain Julien Boudreau says flames at the front of the building were reported on Parlee Beach Road at around 11pm last night.

“We attacked the fire from the interior and exterior, but we were forced out due to the heavy fire conditions, probably due to the fact that there were a lot of chemicals, oxygen, propane. There were all kinds of things in the building. We certainly had a good idea of what was in there. Trucks, ATV’s, tractors, all kinds of stuff like that. Diesel fuel, and gas,” Boudreau says.

Fighting the fire required assistance from Beaubassin-Est and Cap-Pele fire departments.

They were on scene for around nine hours, and at one point, there were around 35 firefighters battling the blaze.

Boudreau says there a few small explosions, but no one was injured.

He adds, “The building is a total loss, and the contents are a total loss. (The cause) It is under investigation, it’s still early.”

RCMP and Ambulance NB were also on standby at the scene.
