Cat Dies In Noel Street Fire

A four unit apartment building on Noel Street has been extensively damaged after a fire.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Paul Bruens says several residents called 911 just before 10pm last night, after hearing a loud noise, and then seeing flames.

Bruens says when they arrived, there was fire coming from two sides of the building on the upper floor.

All of the residents got out safely.

Around six cats were found in the units, one unfortunately didn’t survive.

Bruens says two others were taken to the vet for treatment.

The others are with the SPCA or have been returned to their owners.

Around 18 firefighters battled the fire.

Investigators are currently on scene, but there’s no word on a cause yet.

The Canadian Red Cross arranged emergency lodging, food and clothing for a woman and two young children from one apartment, and a couple and their adult daughter from another unit.
