Large Growth For Re-Centre Recycling Project

Re-Centre locations in Moncton continue to see a steady flow of recyclables.

The drop off program was created in 2014, as a pilot project to look at easier and more convenient ways of recycling.

Spokesperson for Encorp Atlantic Natalie Landry says it has grown from there, “We has around 500 and then it increased exponentially. So the combined membership for the three locations is now just under 5000.”

Landry says there is a waitlist currently for those who would like to sign up for the program.

She says they may look at opening up to new members in the fall, if they are able to handle more volume at their depots, “People really love it. They love the convenience of it, and people will refer family, friends, colleagues. So it was a lot of word of mouth for the reason many people signed up.”

Their hope to eventually offer this type of program to redemption centres, as an extension to their businesses.

“Eventually, what we would like to see is redemption centres having a re-centre type depot or some kind of bag-drop option. Encorp would be offering this type of technology to those redemption centres that are interested, ” Landry says.
