CSC Suspends Inmate Visits Over COVID-19 Pandemic

The Correctional Service of Canada has suspended inmate visits from the public in all federal institutions amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In New Brunswick, these protocols apply to the Atlantic Institution in Renous and Dorchester Penitentiary.

In a release, C.S.C. says the decision is in the best interest of the health and safety of the public, our employees, inmates, and their families.

It states that other options are available to inmates and their family and friends to stay connected, such as video visitation or telephone.

C.S.C. remains in contact with public health authorities and says it has dedicated health care services in its institutions framework to address planning for an outbreak.

They will reassess this situation on an ongoing basis and provide updates as the situation evolves.
