Four the fourth year, NBCC’s culinary and hospitality students will be competing in Street Food Challenge.
Hospitality instructor Jason Blonde says it serves as a market test for the business skills students have developed in the course.
“We challenge our students to create a business concept, create a whole business plan, marketing plan, social media platform, posters, pamphlets an menus. They have only 8 weeks to develop sort of street-style food and serve as many people as they can,” he says.
They’ll be will be serving up their creative food truck concepts the 24th to the 28th, for about 5 to 12 dollars per item.
The public will get to taste their food from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria.
Each year, the event donates the proceeds to charity, as well as support the campus food bank and field trips for culinary and hospitality students.
This year’s charity of choice is Youth Impact Jeunesse.
