Hours after the polls closed, Liberal Dominic Leblanc had a commanding lead in votes in Beausejour.
He unfortunately is not with his supporters who are celebrating tonight, because he is recovering in a Montreal Hospital from a bone marrow transplant.
He issued this statement, “I want to take this opportunity to thank the numerous volunteers who helped me during this election campaign, considering my personal health situation. I also want to thank the other candidates for a well run campaign that showed respect and compassion towards me. As most of you know, I am currently in Montreal recuperating from my bone marrow transplant, which occurred four and a half weeks ago. I hope to be in a position to return to Beauséjour in the next few weeks. I would much rather be with you all in Shediac this evening. The good news is, I’m going to have a full recovery, and I look forward to seeing you real soon. I also want to thank the voters of Beauséjour for their confidence in electing me for a seventh consecutive mandate. I truly appreciate their support and look forward to getting back to work as their MP.”
Leblanc has been elected the Member of Parliament in Beausejour since 2000.
