Student Votes results are out, with some surprising results.
More than 1.1 million elementary and secondary school students participated in CIVIX Student Vote Canada 2019, coinciding with the 2019 federal election.
After learning about the electoral process, researching the parties and platforms, and debating Canada’s future, students cast their ballots for the official candidates running in their school’s riding.
As of 6 o’clock Atlantic time today , votes were reported from over 7800 schools, with results from 338 federal ridings.
Nationally, the Liberal Party took over 22 per cent of the popular vote and won 109 seats, forming a minority government. Justin Trudeau won in his riding of Papineau.
The NDP formed the official opposition with almost 25 per cent of the popular vote and 98 seats. Jagmeet Singh won his seat in Burnaby South.
The Conservative Party took 25 per cent of the popular vote and won 94 seats. Andrew Scheer won his seat.

The Green Party took over 18 per cent of the popular vote and won 28 per cent. Elizabeth May won her seat in Saanich-Gulf Islands.
The Bloc Quebecois took over one per cent and won nine seats. Yves-Francois Blanchet did not win his seat in Beloeil—Chambly.
In the Moncton-Riverview Dieppe riding, students voted for Claire Kelly, with over 31 per cent of the vote with over 2000 votes.
In Beausejour riding, the Green party was also elected with over 40 per cent of the vote.
and in Fundy Royal, students voted the Green Party with almost 41 per cent of the vote.
