Merry-Go-Round Hit By Vandals At All World Super Play Park

The Rebecca Schofield All World Super Play Park has been hit by vandals just weeks after its grand opening.

Project Coordinator Sean Rollo says earlier this week they had to lock down the Merry-go- round, due to potential safety concerns.

As they awaited parts for repairs, they secured it to the base, so it couldn’t spin.

“Somebody thought it would be a good idea to force the restraints to break. For the past two evenings, we have repaired this and somebody keeps breaking them to make Merry-go-Round functional again,” Rollo says.

Rollo says they have filed a report with the RCMP.

“It is discouraging. There’s thousands of volunteers and an awful lot of money has gone into making this. To have people just have a blatant disregard for, not only the equipment, but also the safety issues, is disheartening.”

If you have any information regarding this incident, you are asked to contact RCMP.

“Speak up and do something about it. Even while the playground is in operation during the day, I have observed children doing things they really should be doing. I would encourage parents who are on sight and they see these things going on, don’t be afraid to walk over and tell them it is not appropriate. It is also a matter of safety as well, especially if kids are climbing up and jumping off where they’re not supposed to,or if they are using equipment improperly, ” Rollo adds.
