Time is running out to get your entry in for this year’s Meaning of Home competition.
Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity in Moncton Chantal Landry says it is open to students in grades 4 through 6 and will benefit Habitat for Humanity, “There are three grand prize winners, one for each grade. They are able to direct a $25, 000 grant to the Habitat for Humanity that they choose. The nine runner-ups get a $5000 grant each to give as well. Obviously, we hope that they choose a local Habitat location, but what is good for another Habitat is good for us. The more then students participate, the more donations we’ll get no matter what.”
The entry must be an essay or a video of what home means to the student.
Even if their piece isn’t chosen as a grand prize winner or a runner up, each entry means $10 for the area Habitat for Humanity.
Genworth Canada has been running this contest for the past twelve years.

As of the morning of February 18th, there were over 5200 entries, with 250 coming from New Brunswick, but that number was changing by the hour.
Entries must be in by the end of the day. The names of the winners will be announced in April.
