3 nurses fired from Kent County hospital

Nursing shortages at Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital in Kent County after three nurses were fired.

The Vitalité Health Network confirms the nurses were let go following an internal investigation into an “incident.”

“The matter may require the involvement of the Nurses Association of New Brunswick,” the health authority said in a statement.

“Additional corrective measures have been taken, although we cannot disclose the details for personal record confidentiality reasons, and we are currently evaluating further improvement measures.”

A “critical nursing shortage” forced the hospital’s ER to close on the weekend and again on Tuesday night.

Vitalité said it is making “every effort to ensure the continuity of services and to prevent further closures.”
