The deadline has passed to become a candidate for the September 24 provincial election.
A total of 241 people registered as candidates by the 2 p.m. deadline on Tuesday.
The Liberals, Progressive Conservatives and New Democrats are running candidates in all 49 ridings.
The Green party is running candidates in 47 ridings, the People’s Alliance has 30 candidates, nine people are running for KISS N.B., and there are eight independent candidates.
Of the 241 candidates, 148 of them (61.4 per cent) are men and 93 of them (38.6 per cent) are women.
Candidates have until 10 a.m. on September 22 if they want to withdraw from the campaign.
