2 youth arrested after threats toward Rexton school

Two youth have been arrested after the RCMP investigated threats made toward a school in Rexton, a community in Kent County.

The RCMP said several community members reported the threats on December 14 after they appeared on social media.

Police said the school remained closed on December 15 while officers investigated, which the RCMP described as an “abundance of caution.”

The two youths have since been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on March 4, 2026.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and added there are no known threats to other schools in the region.

The RCMP is asking anyone with information to contact the Richibucto detachment or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
