NB Man Is Province’s Newest Millionaire

A first time purchase was all a New Brunswick man needed to become a millionaire.

In December, Jean Claude Duguay went to a store in the community of Trudel in the Acadian Peninsula.

“I went to the store to pick up a few things and the change left over was about five dollars, so I
asked the cashier what I should get with the money,” Duguay said. “She suggested the Atlantic
49 ticket, I let the machine pick my numbers and the rest is history.”With $5 in change leftover, he asked the cashier what he should do with it.

That ticket marched all six numbers for the December 29th draw, and with a one million dollar prize.

He picked up his prize, along with his partner Isabelle in Moncton on Monday.

They plan to use the money to spoil their five children and eight grandchildren, as well as buy a brand new Dodge Ram truck.

To escape the cold, they’ll also take a vacation somewhere warm.

Duguay has also dreamed of starting his own small business selling cars, which he hopes the money will help to make a reality.
