Youth charged in Fredericton homicide

A 17-year-old has been charged in connection with a homicide in downtown Fredericton.

The teen appeared in court on Thursday and was charged with a single count of manslaughter.

They were remanded into custody pending a bail hearing scheduled on Oct. 10.

Officers were called to a report of an assault at the Tannery during the early morning hours of Sept. 22.

Police said a 41-year-old man suffered serious injuries and later died in the hospital. A second victim of the assault was treated for minor injuries.

Investigators said more arrests and charges are anticipated in connection with the incident.
