You answer your phone and a disembodied voice advizes you are being sued.
They may even have left a message on your answering machine.
If you don’t respond – you WILL be sued, the voice says.
Don’t respond.
Don’t answer.
Don’t call your lawyer.
You aren’t being sued – it’s yet another telephone scam and they want your cash or even just information about you.
Even a simple call-back or pushing a ‘prompt number’ on your phone can send an elctronic message that you are a living person, you actually answered, and you will likely answer to similar scams.
Such calls are usualy generated by computers at random and even generate fake ‘caller ID numbers.’
Experts agree the safest action is to ignore the call. Delete the message.
If you have elderly relatives, make sure they know – it’s just another scam.
