YMCA And City Of Moncton Expand Summer Playground Fun Program

The YMCA is expanding a program to offer activities for children and families at playgrounds this summer with the help of the City of Moncton.

Vice President of Programs Dave Theriault says they will have three mobile recreation teams visiting neighbourhood parks offering.

“We’re gonna run at a park from 9-12, and then 1-4, so each team will hit two parks per day,” says Theriault. “This year we actually added a third team, so we had two teams last year, this year we have three.”

He says “we’re looking to really build on the partnership that we had, and have more connectivity with some of the community organizations this year, and as of right now we’ve firmed up about five partners to run some activities with throughout the weeks.”

Theriault adds this isn’t just for the kids because the “parents, grandparents, whoever is coming out, we have a whole list of things we can do.”

There is no cost to participate, and it runs from July 4th to August 25th.
