One organization that has taken action after the earthquake in Nepal, is World Vision.
They sent a team to assess the damage in rural areas, and have been helping with the search and rescue efforts, as well as providing water, food, household supplies, temporary shelter, and protection for children.
Incoming President and CEO for World Vision Canada Michael Messenger says disaster relief is just one of many services World Vision provides. They also a lot of work through long term development, working with communities and families to build a future for the kids. That’s a long term 12 to 15 year commitment in a community.
World Vision is one of Canada’s leading international charities.
Roughly 3, 000 people were killed in the 7.8 magnitude quake, and there are fears the death toll could grow to 10, 000.
