Woman killed, man arrested after eastern N.B. crash

A woman has died and a man has been arrested following a vehicle-pedestrian collision in eastern New Brunswick.

Police say first responders were called to the crash on Route 115 in Notre-Dame during the noon hour on Monday.

Investigators believe a northbound vehicle collided with a pedestrian who was walking on the southbound shoulder.

The pedestrian, a 40-year-old woman from the community, died at the scene as a result of her injuries.

Police said the 78-year-old man driving the vehicle fled the scene but was arrested a short time later.

There is no word yet on what charges he may be facing.
