Woman Charged With Attempted Murder

A woman from Chipman has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in the nearby community of Salmon River.

RCMP say a 40-year-old woman was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds on Wednesday night after a report came in about a stabbing around 7:45pm.

Mounties say a 54-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man were arrested at a home in Chipman later the same night.

The woman was held in custody and the man was questioned but later released.

Joanne Alice Lewis was charged with attempted murder in Burton provincial court on Thursday.

She has been remanded and sent for a psychiatric evaluation with another court date scheduled for February 14th.
