Winter Tires In High Demand With Arrival Of Snow

On Monday, the forecast hinted at snow for this week, and there has been a mad rush for snow tires since then.

Owner of Steve’s Tires in Moncton Andy Warman says at the first mention of snow, the phone started ringing, “The first of the week really. As soon as snow was in the forecast, the panic started. For our first come, first serve appointments, every day when we’ve opened, we’ve had at least 20 customers waiting.”

One day this week, they installed snow tires on 74 cars.

“Most shops, if you have an appointment, you should be able to get in and out in around an hour. If you are doing the first come, first serve, there have been long waits to the tune of three to four hours for some folks.”

Warman says he normally advises his customers to put the snow tires on around the third week of October…

“People sometimes feel that is a little bit early, but really, if you just do a normal amount of driving, having your tires on a week or so early, it is not going to impact you in a negative way, it is really going to save you a lot of time during the crazy winter rush,” Warman says.
