Will El Nino Impact NB Spring Weather?

Spring has finally sprung in New Brunswick but will the phenomenon known as El Nino have an impact on our weather this season?

The abnormal pattern involves the warming of the Pacific Ocean and it often has an impact on much of Canada.

Weather Network meteorologist Michael Carter says El Nino has been rather weak until more recently.

“That is why the atmosphere has really struggled to respond to those warmer temperatures which has allowed colder air to dominate especially in Eastern Canada… the Atlantic Provinces.”

Carter expects El Nino will get stronger this spring which could mean more extended periods of milder weather for the region.

The Weather Network has predicted that spring in New Brunswick will likely have near normal temperatures and precipitation.
