Wildfires set at Kouchibouguac National Park: RCMP

Mounties are investigating a series of wildfires that were set at Kouchibouguac National Park.

Several fires were reported along Route 117 and Route 113 in Saint-Louis-de-Kent on April 21.

“Once on scene, police discovered a total of three wildfires,” RCMP said in a news release on Monday.

Members of the Beaurivage Fire Department and park wardens were also on the scene.

The fires were quickly put out by firefighters and no injuries were reported, said the release.

“Through the investigation, it was determined that the fires had been intentionally set,” said the RCMP.

Exactly how the fires were started remains unknown as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information should contact Richibucto RCMP at 506-523-4611 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
