Wildcats Select 14 Players In Entry Draft

The Moncton Wildcats selected 14 players as part of the 2022 QMJHL Entry Draft this week.

Adam Fortier-Gendron was the first pick for the Wildcats in the first round, 14th overall.

Gendron joins the Wildcats from Les Phénix du Collège Esther-Blondin in Quebec.

He scored five goals and 18 assists in 37 games during the 2021-22 regular season.

The Wildcats also welcomed Gabe Smith from Saint Andrews with the 25th selection, Néka Jean from Cap-Pelé with the 133rd selection, and Dieppe native Cooper Cormier from the Moncton Flyers with the 241st selection.

The Wildcats also selected two players in the 2022 American QMJHL Entry Draft: Cole Eiserman of Massachusetts and Caeden Herrington of Vermont.

Meanwhile, several players from our region were selected by other QMJHL teams.

Jérémie Richard from Moncton will play for Saint John, Jonah Leard from Memramrook will join Acadie-Bathurst, and Niko Boudreau from Shediac will play for Charlottetown.

Spencer Gill of Baie Verte and Anthony Gaudet of Saint-Ignace were selected by Rimouski, Rylan Benner of Moncton will join Rouyn-Noranda, Kaden McNeil of Renous will play for Sherbrooke, Samuel Leblanc of Memramcook was selected by Val d’Or, and Loic Nadeau of Dieppe will join Victoriaville.
