Wildcats secure spot as QMJHL regular season champs

The Moncton Wildcats have secured their spot as the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League regular season champions.

Moncton’s Quebec road trip combined with Rimouski losing a game on Sunday night finalized their spot atop the league standings.

The Wildcats are on a 10-game winning streak and have recorded just 11 losses during their 59 games played so far this season.

The team also leads the league in nearly all measured stats, including most wins, most points, goals for and penalty kill, as well as fewest losses and goals against.

Moncton has just five games left in the regular season, including three home games at the Avenir Centre.

The Wildcats play Saint John on Saturday, Acadie-Bathurst on Sunday and Halifax on March 21.
