The generous hearts and wallets of Monctonians were on display as the West End Food Bank got their van repaired for free.
The West End Food Bank Manager Ben MacMichael says they are blessed to have such generous neighbours, who said they heard the story on 91.9 The Bend, and had to do something to help.
“That van is used constantly to do various food pickups and deliveries, and what have you. It’s kind of the heart of what we do,” says MacMichael. “If it wasn’t for the van we wouldn’t be able to go and pick up a lot of the donations and to deliver food and even help give people rides and what have you.”
MacMichael says Moncton Honda footed the entire $1200 bill to repair, and several other organizations offered to help including Dwight Perry from Perry Motors, who is still donating $600 to the Food bank, as well as help offered by Moncton NBCC and Big Hearts Small City.
He says he’s overwhelmed but not surprised by the generosity because every time the Food Bank is up against the ropes and needs help, the community steps up in a big way.
