25 people have died from drug use in New Brunswick between January and the end of June. Of these, 17 used opioids.
Acting Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Jennifer Russell is now warning about the drug “carfentanil”. She says it’s about 100 times more powerful than fentanyl and 10,000 times more powerful than morphine with no taste or smell. This, she says, makes it especially lethal.
Carfentanil was found in the system of a person who died from a drug overdose recently in southern New Brunswick.
