Voter information cards in the mail

Voter information cards for the upcoming local government elections were mailed this week.

In a press release, the government announced nearly 325,000 cards are being mailed ahead of the May 11 local government, rural district advisory committee and district education council elections.

“We encourage voters to bring their voter information cards with them when they go to vote, as it will ensure faster service,” said Kim Poffenroth, chief electoral officer for Elections New Brunswick.

Poffenroth added each card will have a unique bar code to help polling staff quickly find an elector’s name on the voters list and direct them to receive a ballot.

Eligible voters who do not receive a card, or who do not bring it to the polling station, will be directed to another team at each station. That team will check for their name on the voters list or add it if needed.

Residents can find more voting information by visiting the Elections N.B. website and entering their address into the Where do I Vote search engine. Voters can find the location of their polling station and a list of candidates.

Advance voting is scheduled for May 2 and 4.
