Violent Home Invasion In Northwestern N.B.

Police are looking for a suspect after a violent home invasion in northwestern New Brunswick over the weekend.

Mounties say a man entered a home in Saint-Basile just before 7 p.m. on Sunday and demanded money.

The suspect got into an altercation with the man and woman inside and stabbed the man with a knife, according to police.

He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and the woman was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

The suspect, who spoke English without an accent, fled the scene in a grey 2000s-model hatchback car with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He is described as about 5’8″ tall with a shaved head and several days of dark facial hair growth.

Police say he was dressed in a black long-sleeved shirt and a ball cap and may also have a neck tattoo.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP at (506) 473-3137 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
